General Questions

Orthodontics (also referred to as dentofacial orthopedics) is a specialized form of dentistry focusing on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of dental and facial abnormalities.

An orthodontist is a dental specialist who has received two to three years of additional training and experience after dental school. Their practice focuses only on orthodontics; it is not a side line. Your orthodontist is able to straighten teeth, correct misaligned jaw structure, and improve the function of your smile.

Orthodontics is for everyone! If you are looking to improve your smile and bite, come in for a free consultation!  The American Association of Orthodontists recommend that children first visit an orthodontist around seven years old to get an evaluation on whether or not they are ready for treatment.
Orthodontists help to correct crooked and crowded teeth, underbites and overbites, jaw position, and abnormal wear and tear on the surface of the teeth.  Orthodontic treatment can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, eating, biting, chewing, speech impediments,  headaches, and earaches.
For children, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that they get in for their initial exam no later than age 7.  By starting orthodontic treatment early, children can avoid issues that may result in tooth extraction or surgery later in life.

These questions will be answered at your complimentary initial exam appointment. At this appointment, we will be taking photographs and a panoramic x-ray to determine a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. We have many financing options to suit your budget and our office will submit insurance claims for you once treatment has started.

Patients who are receiving treatment in braces will have an expected check-up appointment about every 4-8 weeks. Patients with Invisalign will be expected to have a check-up appointment every 10-12 weeks.
